The Church Allowed Abuse
For decades, countless victims have been abused by members of religious institutions. In many cases, the institution was aware and did nothing to protect the victims.
Most recently in November of 2020, the State of New York is suing the Diocsese of Buffalo and its former senior leaders. According to the NY Attorney General Letitia James, the lawsuit was filed after “they failed to follow mandated policies and procedures that would help to prevent the rampant sexual abuse of minors by priests within the Catholic Church.”
