What Drugs Can Cause SJS and TEN?

SJS/TEN is most often caused by an allergic reaction to a particular drug. Some drugs commonly associated with SJS/TEN include:

  • Antibiotics like Penicillin, Amoxicillin, and Ampicillin
  • Sulfa drugs and drugs that include sulfa, like Bactrim
  • Acne medications, like Tetracycline and Accutane
  • Cold medications and pain relievers, like Tylenol (Acetaminophen), NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), like ibuprofen (Advil/ Motrin), and Tamiflu and Lamictal
  • Seizure medications like Tegretol, Dilantin, and Depakote
  • Gout medications, like Allopurinal

People with compromised immune systems, like those with lupus, the elderly, and children, have a higher risk of developing SJS/TEN.

How Do I Know if I Have a SJS Lawsuit?

If you or a loved one has recently taken an over-the-counter drug or prescription drug and you have developed Stevens-Johnson syndrome or Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis, you may be entitled to compensation.
