Have you or a loved been diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer or Mesothelioma?

You may be entitled to significant financial compensation.

For years, several studies have linked talcum powder to ovarian cancer.  In 2016, a study published in the journal Epidemiology, analyzed the use of talcum powder in 4,000+ women with and without ovarian cancer.  The findings: use of talcum powder in the genital region may increase a woman’s risk for ovarian cancer by 33%, especially in instances where the powder was used regularly.  (Ref: “The Association Between Talc Use and Ovarian Cancer” – Epidemiology: May 2016)

What is Talcum Powder?

TALCUM POWDER is derived from Talc, clay mineral, composed of hydrated magnesium silicate.  In powdered form, Talc is often combined with corn starch and is most commonly known as “baby powder.”

Talc is used in many industries, including paper making, plastic, paint and coatings, rubber, food, electric cable, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and ceramics.  It is often used for surfaces of laboratory table tops and electrical switchboards because of its resistance to heat, electricity and acids. In finely ground form, talc finds use as a cosmetic (talcum powder), as a lubricant, and as a filler in paper manufacture.

Does Talcum Powder cause Cancer?

For years, several studies have linked talcum powder to multiple forms of cancer.

OVARIAN CANCER – In 2016, a study published in the journal Epidemiology, analyzed the use of talcum powder in 4,000+ women with and without ovarian cancer.  The findings: use of talcum powder in the genital region may increase a woman’s risk for ovarian cancer by 33%, especially in instances where the powder was used regularly.

MESOTHELIOMA – There are also links between talc and mesothelioma, which is a tumor of the tissue that lines the lungs, stomach, heart, and other organs. According to a 2018 Reuters report: Johnson & Johnson “didn’t tell the FDA that at least three tests by three different labs from 1972 to 1975 had found asbestos in its talc – in one case at levels reported as ‘rather high.'”  Multiple studies have linked abestos with mesothelioma.

ARE THERE EXISTING LAWSUITS?

Yes.  In the video above, a jury awarded a cancer survivor $55 Million in a Johnson & Johnson lawsuit.

According to a recent Bloomberg report, “J&J has agreed to pay more than $100 million to resolve over 1,000 lawsuits blaming its baby powder for causing cancer, in the first set of major settlements in four years of litigation.”  The company faces more than 20,000 lawsuits, still pending.

Though Johnson & Johnson faces the highest number of lawsuits, other companies facing litigation include Vanderbilt Minerals, Colgate-Palmolive and Imerys Talc America.
